Brussels representation

Through its joint representation in Brussels, the University Alliance Stockholm Trio supports participation in EU-funded research, education, and innovation programs, while engaging with policy development in these areas.

EU funding and policy monitoring

Karolinska Institutet, KTH, and Stockholm University are collectively among the largest recipients of EU funding from the EU’s Horizon Europe framework program. The Brussels representation promotes the universities’ participation in EU program calls, including sharing early drafts of calls with colleagues at home. The representation also monitors policy development within strategic areas relevant to research, education, and innovation at the three universities, with a specific focus on Horizon Europe.

Shaping EU framework programme

Stockholm Trio works proactively to shape the EU’s upcoming framework programme for research and innovation, FP10, set to run from 2028 to 2034. The Brussel representations efforts include drafting joint position papers, providing input through consultations, and utilizing their Brussels presence to host seminars and create opportunities for the three universities to participate in panels, expert groups, and networks.

Through its participation in UnILiON External link., a network representing over 160 universities, the Brussels representation facilitates knowledge exchange and fosters dialogue with the European Commission and high-level groups with specific assignments.
