Four Projects Receive Seed Funding for Collaboration Between Stockholm Trio and University College London (UCL)

Researchers participating in a workshop

The call focused on sustainable urban development, planetary health and youth mental health – also the theme of an April 2025 workshop by the Stockholm Trio and UCL.

The university alliance Stockholm Trio and UCL have launched a joint call to build new research collaborations between the Trio universities and UCL in London.

The call focused on three priority areas: Sustainable Urban Development, Planetary Health and Food Security, and Mental Health in Children and Adolescents. These three areas were also the themes of a workshop organised by Stockholm Trio and UCL in April 2025. Both the workshop and the call are part of an initiative to stimulate collaboration between researchers at the four institutions.

The call, which closed on May 25, 2025, received around 20 applications from all four universities, and four of these were awarded seed funding:

  1. Exploring the Value Chain of Food Waste Reuse
  2. Data-Driven Simulations of Synaptic Plasticity Underlying Associative Learning
  3. A Community of Practice on Youth Suicide and Self-Harm Research
  4. SMILE City: A Pre-study
