Research infrastructure
Stockholm Trio coordinates joint efforts to develop research infrastructure and make it accessible to researchers at Karolinska Institutet, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, and Stockholm University.
Making research infrastructure accessible
Stockholm Trio works to enhance the visibility of the research infrastructure available at the three universities and coordinates joint action on issues concerning national research infrastructure. The University Alliance is also exploring opportunities to develop new joint infrastructure, such as a centre for medical radiation science.
By promoting the shared use of resources, Stockholm Trio aims to provide both researchers and external users – including industry – with excellent conditions for research and development.
Shared resources in life sciences
Karolinska Institutet, KTH, and Stockholm University together host a broad and high-quality research infrastructure across all areas where the universities conduct leading research – from register-based research in the humanities to life sciences, sustainable materials research, and astronomy.
The research infrastructures are primarily funded and operated by the individual universities but leading research infrastructure have been established through collaborative efforts – such as SciLifeLab External link, opens in new window., an initiative launched by Karolinska Institutet, KTH, Stockholm University, and Uppsala University. Today, SciLifeLab represents a national resource of unique technologies within the life sciences and is a good example of how coordinated investments in research infrastructure strengthen research and innovation in Sweden.
